My art practice employs installation, media art, custom software and experimental sound to investigate the political, technological, linguistic and aesthetic systems through which we understand the world. In my practice, technical and artistic experimentation informs critical perspectives on media, art and technology.
My practice is rooted in experimental noise music and sound art, misusing music equipment and instruments to subvert notions of musicality, processing and juxtaposing found and concrete sound. In recent years, I have dealt extensively with matters of virtuality and reality through 3D graphics, artificial intelligence, simulation, generative programming, taking inspiration from digital & online culture.
I frequently combine digital and material works, in a dialogue across the virtual and physical realms. My work often takes the form of immersive multi-media installations, incorporating sound, video, sculpture, found objects and custom software. The activation of the viewer in the space highlights the intersubjective, mutual process of meaning-making between viewer, artist and the artwork itself.
My work draws on the poetics and aesthetics of horror, esotericism, underground subculture, the uncanny and the eerie. I view these as modes of obscure and speculative meaning-making, alternatives to rigid binary or textual logic.
